The Company

Louise Pendry

Artistic Director

My favourite teacher at school was Mrs Silvers. She taught me the story of Diwali when she turned it into a class performance. She read us a few pages of the Hobbit every day until she finished the book and she held heated balloon debates with us, even though we were 10 years old. It is with a similar energy and passion we have shaped Bounce. A little more about me? I graduated from Royal Holloway with a BA in Drama+Theatre Studies. Before Bounce, I was a freelance drama practitioner for 6 years, working in primary schools and also as the director of a 100 member strong community youth theatre.

I am married and have seven places I would like to travel before I am 60.

Kirsten Hutton

Creative Projects Producer (New Writing)

Since arriving from Australia I have spent a number of years working in secondary education. This has been followed by a period running a London youth theatre, followed by leading the Learning and Participation department of a producing theatre company. In addition to this, I write plays and stories for children. I passionately believe in the power of a story to transport imaginations into new worlds, landscapes and ideas. Something else about me? I am married and I was born on Christmas Eve.

Laura Dutton

Creative Projects Producer (Midlands)

I was the little girl that loved to make up songs and dances to perform on the front garden wall for passing cars and neighbours, but who then felt happier as one of 35 or so snowflakes in the school play. Similar performances as a wave, a leaf and a star followed and drama continued to provide the real, exciting, ever changing challenges throughout my school life. I studied Drama and Media and then gained an array of experiences from performing to make up design in the West End. Then I took a change of path and developed a strong business background, working for one of the biggest global professional services firm. Now, I am married with 3 young boys. As they are growing up, starting preschool and onwards, I realise just how passionate I am about learning through creativity. For those who struggle with the typical classroom environment, to those like me who love centre stage as long as it involves the rest of class alongside them - I believe that creative learning is the key. Every child should be excited when it comes to books, stories and creative writing, it just takes different approaches to get them there.
