A few fun five minute filler activities for book week!
World's Worst ...
Ask for five children to line up infront of the class. When you give them a signal, they are to invent the World's Worst audition for Harry Potter. The class are then to clap who has the World's Worst - the louder clap wins!
Who am I?
Ask for one volunteer, they are to be an author who is having a party - send them outside momentarily. Then invite up to five other children to play famous characters from books the children will know, they are to think about how they can give the author clues about the character - e.g. the BFG would enter and ask for a snozzcumber. Invite the author back in, their job is to host the party and guess who the character are, as quickly as possible. You can ring a bell/give a clue for when you would like the other characters to enter.
One Word Story
Children work in pairs and tell a story, but they are only allowed to add one word at a time each.
Yes and...
Children to work in pairs and take turns to tell each other a story. Every now and again, the partner should interject and say "Yes And". The story teller must accept this and expand their story out of the realms of reality, into fantasy e.g. "We were walking along" "Yes And" "And, we fell into a giant whole, tumbled through the earth and landed in an icecream@
I really enjoyed Bounce's production of Tender: the characters were all so real and the series of tangled encounters built up the tension so much for me I cried at the end.
