Bounce is pleased to announce a new workshop for Anti-Bullying Week - Don't Walk Away.
The workshop allows participants to harness Image Theatre techniques to build a picture of the cause and effects of bullying. The images allow participants to observe the different people that can help prevent it. They are then then guided through a series of exercises that encourage them to build a dialogue around the images, to try out scenarios and feel confident and safe in dealing with the situation. Children are able to listen to each others work and then remodel their images to identify how the situations could have been prevented.
Workshop creator Louise Pendry explains "Our aim is to allow participants to explore the issues in a safe and sensitive manner. They are never asked to perform infront of a whole group, so there is opportunity for reflective and non-confrontational dialogue. However, at the end of the workshop there is a chance to create a set of class or group pledges to tackle bullying as they are able to title their images.
The workshops last for 90 minutes and are accompanied by resources for teachers and a fact sheet for the participants. For more information please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 02084081124.
Bounce Theatre did morning workshops with Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in Spring Term in conjunction with our Creativity week. They successfully incorporated our themes of animals, colours, rain forests and space. The children were inspired and the morning was thoroughly successful.
