Bounce Theatre is delighted to be touring an updated version of Planet Phoenix by Kirsten Hutton this Spring.
Planet Phoenix is an environmental science-fiction. Deep in the heart of the city, there are a group of scientists who make a startling discovery - Earth is about to explode due to human misuse. Their only hope is to send a group of astronauts into an undiscovered galaxy to seek new life form. All hope seems lost, until Mother Nature appears and gives them one last chance to save the planet.
The play is a light-hearted and funny story, which allow children to access complex themes and issues. Director Louise Pendry explains 'Planet Phoenix is a great play. Children are transfixed at the idea of battling Hydroza a giant pink jelly fish on the Aqua planet. Yet, the premise of the story means you can actually teach the water cycle through the scene. In addition, you can also debate with the children why Hydroza would want to protect pure water forms from human use."
Planet Phoenix is available from February 2012. The play lasts an hour and can be run in a school hall. Bounce will provide a complimentary workshop after the show, which could mean up to five classes can work with a cast member! There is also a production resource pack available.
