Free Play for Schools to Perform!

01 May 2009

Bounce Theatre is delighted to be offering the rights to a unique and innovative play to schools for free!

The Forest Where Kit Went has been created by Kirsten Hutton. It charts the story of Kit, who is a lonely child, not yet sure where he/she fits in. One day Kit enters into a forest. The forest is buzzing with elves, urchins, flowers and leaf piles, each with a special message just for Kit. As Kit travels through the forest everything changes - will Kit change too?

The play has been created to allow up to 60 children to participate on stage. With multiple roles, opportunity for music and dance - it allows any group to put their own unique stamp on it. Not only that, but it's themes of growing up, fitting in and moving on make it a perfect play for an end of year performance.

Bounce is currently preparing to launch a Creative Writing Network, which will bring teachers and artists together to explore ways to enrich writing for children. With this in mind, Kirsten is currently offering schools the opportunity to perform the play for free. In return, she hopes to get young people's feedback about how she might develop the play in order for publication. Kirsten says 'Having feedback from young people will only develop and enrich my writing - its a delight to mark the establishent of the Creative Writing Network with The Forest Where Kit Went.'

All the children were able to engage with the workshops at their own level and some fantastic stories have been written since!
