New book - A christmas celebration story for primary children!

15 Nov 2010

Bounce is delighted to be supporting the publication of Something Something Christmassy this year.

The book provided the inspiration for the adaption of our current touring production. Something Something Christmassy is set on Christmas Eve, Maisie has lost her Christmas tingle and is on a hunt to find it before Father Christmas arrives and it's to late. Just as she's about to give up, Grandma wakes up and may just have the answer to her dilemma.

Director Louise Pendry says "It was a great story to adapt, as it's not only a beautiful story but genuinely did make me think of the true meaning of Christmas. When I first read it I went straight back to the days of being a child and thinking of my nan baking cakes, sausage rolls and picked onions!" She goes on to say "I think what's great about the book is it remains true to the values and traditions of Christmas but is universal in it's message of appreciating others around you. We are delighted to be supporting the book along with the play"

Bounce is currently preparing to tour the production in Primary schools. Accompanying the production is an IDEAs pack which offers cross curricular ideas for using the story in lessons and to celebrate at this time of year. Schools will also receive a copy of the book, extracts of the play script and interviews with the author and play writer to compare and contrast the adaptation.
