Bounce Theatre is delighted to announce a new series of productions for Primary Schools for 2011-2012.
As the Company reaches it's fifth year, it's celebrating with the release of a new set of plays, which each include a resource pack and the option of a post show workshop with the cast. The first production, available from the end of May 2011 is Planet Phoenix.
This eco science fiction has been written by Kirsten Hutton. The premise is simple, Earth is about to explode, due to human misuse. A group of ace astronauts are sent into space to discover alternative life forms. All hope seems lost until Mother Nature appears and gives them on last chance to save themselves. They manage to do so and Earth is reborn Planet Phoenix
Previously toured by the Company in 2006, this is a fantastic play linking science, ecology and Literacy. Following the production, children are able to work with the actors to form the rules for life on the new planet. Director Louise Pendry says "I love this play. Having directed it before and workshopped it since, it's a brilliant premise to encourage children to think about science and ecology. We've taught the water cycle through it and debated the future of solar power, amongst many other things!
The resource pack includes extension activities to link the play into the curriculum, extracts and a 'deleted scenes' section, which can be performed by the children back in the classroom.
