Bounce is delighted to be launching a body of new work that will take productions into primary schools.
The productions feature the work of new writers. They are an excellent opportunity to provide the whole school with an opportunity to watch a live performance + take part in a workshop, all within the school day in the school building!
First to tour is Planet Phoenix by Kirsten Hutton. This environmental launches us straight into a drama where the world is about to explode due to human misuse. A group of ace astronauts are sent to a far off galaxy to seek new life forms. They visit a variety of planets and species, but none suitable for man kind. All hope seems lost, until Mother Nature appears and gives the humans on last chance to rebuild their planet and thus Planet Phoenix is born.
Following the production, there is an opportunity for the whole school to participate in workshops, becoming Planet Phoenix HQ and determining the actions required for a greener future. The work can support schools eco status and the production is also accompanied by a multi arts resource pack that provides a scheme of work for Eco Week
Director Louise Pendry adds "What's really nice about Planet Phoenix is provides a springboard to launch into a creative curriculum. Not only does it explore green action, it also offers an opportunity to teach the water cycle, rock formation, cloud types, sci-fi and news reporting - the possibilities are endless!"
Following Planet Phoenix the company will be offering a Christmas show Something Something Christmassy by Rupert Stratton. A beautiful story created last year has been turned into a play combining puppetry, music, glitter and storytelling. Maisie's grandma shares the secrets of Christmas with her on Christmas eve, whilst they await her parents return in a snow storm.
The play is accompanied by an array of workshops from making puppets, to devising to creating a Christmas show of your very own.
Both productions lend themselves to a flexible format to ensure schools with two form + entry are able to allow every child to benefit from workshops.
