We are delighted to announce our new Christmas show!
Something Something Christmassy is based on the story by writer Rupert Stratton. Adapted by Rupert with Bounce, it offers a unique and magical Christmas show for schools right in their school hall!
The play uses puppetry, music and story telling to tell the tale of a little girl Maisie, who has lost her Christmas spirit. The children join her on the hunt around the tree, in the Radio Times, in the wrapping paper box and even in the snow! Will she find it or will Christmas loose it's sparkle forever?
Rupert says "My idea was to create a story that would have simply share what I think is special about Christmas. It's a great experience for me. Bounce workshopped it for me last year with a group of children who managed to point out some improvements that could be made, as well as tell me what they liked!
Laura Dutton, Creative Producer at Bounce added "Last year was great, as we were able to take the story into schools as a story telling workshop. We had fantastic feedback from teachers about the themes within the story. Our favourite moment was seeing on the second day in one school, the whole year group were spending the day drawing and painting their own "something something. I can't wait to see how it's transformed into a play!
The play is available from late November 2010. Accompanying the performance is an IDEAs pack for teachers who might like to implement it into their teaching or Christmas preparation. The pack also contains information about the original story and an interview with the writer, so children can compare and contrast the different in writing styles.
