Workshops for book week 2009

18 Jul 2009

Bounce Theatre is delighted to launch a range of new projects that can be used to put a bounce into book week this October. Following the recent appointment of Laura Gray as Creative Learning Director, the company has been developing a new range of exciting projects for the primary sector. The workshops offered by the company make a perfect selection for book week. Laura is a qualified primary teacher, who has returned from establishing an English department in a Thai orphanage. She explains "The process of teaching children with no English has given me a new insight into the process of reading and writing. I am delighted to return to the UK to work for Bounce and expand the range of projects we offer. I think my favourite might be our Virtual Storybook project." The Virtual Storybook will allow children to devise their own story which can be told through image and words. This will be recorded through mixed media and uploaded onto a site to create a Virtual Storybook. The Virtual book provides a whole school teaching resource as children can read a combination of images, words and dialogue. In addition to this, Bounce can offer schools the chance to work with writers, visual artists, directors and poets to bring the process of story making alive. Laura goes on to say "A school could book Bounce to run their whole book week. Everyday will be different! We will also support the delivery of these exciting workshop with lesson plans, web resources and suggestions for further development in the classroom."
