Bounce is proud to be offering a new range of workshops for Healthy Schools week
Inspired by their recent work Arts Projects for Everyone, part of Be Creative Be Well, for Well London (London Health Commission Initiative), the company have launched a set of workshops taking a holistic approach to health.
Artistic Director, Louise Pendry explains "We've just completed a 12 month project working cross-generationally with a group of residents from the Meadows Estate in Hounslow. We were inspired by the stories we heard from elder residents, with a little research came up with a new set of workshops that put an intergenerational twist on health. The workshops are flexible for all ages. We can also provide resources for teachers to link their workshop into history, PHSE and literacy."
The workshops include:
Potato Pete
Inspired by the "Dig for Victory" campaign, children will create their own vegetable characters. The workshop aims to allow children to experiment with combing vegetables to create healthy snacks, reinforces the nutritional values of good food. In addition, the workshop can look at the values placed on food during WW2. It can guide children to think about the value of how food is sourced, making the most of produce and the social aspects of food - e.g. eating together .
The Talking Project
This workshop is inspired by the project we ran for elders, promoting the value of talking and listening. Children will be guided through a range of exercises that promote the values of talking about their feelings. The workshop will enable children to identify different types of body language, different ways of negotiating conversation and culminates in a class rainbow to explore how to listen. Schools can put a bespoke twist on the stimulus for the workshop in address individual plans.
Story Combo
A dance drama workshop, inspired by our youth theatre StreetCombo. Children will combine literacy and dance to perform a story. Underpinning the workshop will be physical activities to demonstrate how to be physically active for learning, health and relaxation.
