Workshops for Science Week

29 Jan 2010

Bounce is excited to launch a new range of exciting projects to combine science and art.

Fusing their work with new writers and drama work, Bounce has created a range of projects that explore an array of topics from maintaining a healthy heart to the sun and the moon.

Inspired by the writing of Rupert Stratton and Kirsten Hutton, children can participate in an array of creative workshops that present fictional stories which model scientific concepts. In Hutton's "Planet Phoenix", children can explore Planet Aqua as a landscape for a story setting whilst learning the water cycle. In Rupert Stratton's "The Magnificent Octopus" children can explore the sea as a habitat, creating puppets to retell the story and create the required environment for the characters to inhabit.

"I am really excited to launch these projects." says Artistic Director Louise Pendry "I didn't enjoy science so much at school, but the stories have made me want to understand science and research the reality - for instance in Captain Oatcake - I love the process of understanding how heart disease can develop through an attack from Sugartooth!"

You were great and I really enjoyed the show. It looked great, just the variety of women all looking fabulous was very empowering, even before the first word was said. The Director picked the right voices for each of the monologues - you have to admit your monologue suited your vowels and demeanour.
