Hope

When we began working with students at Anstee Bridge, our aim wasn’t just to make a book. We wanted to make something whilst making space for students to engage creatively in a way that felt right for them. Some wanted to switch off and paint with colour. Others were drawn to illustration or had ideas for the story itself. Everyone brought something different, our job was to ensure there was room for all of it.

We kept the project flexible, so students could engage in a way that felt authentic to them - whether that meant quietly painting in the background or jumping into writing and recording dialogue. We listened, adapted, and helped each student’s contribution find its place.

The result was Hope - a story shaped by the group, brought to life through their artwork. We also worked with them to create a zine for primary children, helping younger audiences connect with the themes in playful, creative ways.

It was tied together by our team’s ability to hold space for different kinds of creativity, while gently guiding it into something cohesive. Hope is a reminder that when people are given the freedom to create in their own way, the results are powerful.
